Walking

We are in wonderful walking country and whatever your level you will find walks to suit your needs. There is huge scope, from challenging gorge walking through to relaxing strolls through forests and along river valleys. There are over 50 well marked routes in the Tarn alone and as we are so close to the Aveyron department we can double that number of easily accessible routes. The summer temperatures can make walking in late July and August uncomfortable but both Spring and Autumn provide wonderful walking weather.

Equestrians

Equestrians venturing here are spoilt for choice around La Peyrecout. The areas bridle paths take visitors across a wide variety of terrain. Many of the public GR and GRP footpaths are open to horse riders and the gentle hill routes are of particular interest. You don’t have to be an expert rider to take advantage of the stunning landscape.

Sailing

Near Monestiés (10 min) there is lake with sand beach (la Roucarie) where you can swim and sail. Of course there are many places along the rivers Aveyron and the Viaur were you can plunge in the water to cool down.

Canoeing and Rafting

Experience the natural wonders of France first hand through exhilarating canoeing trips down the Gorges du Averyron. Starting point at any of the renting companies in St. Antonin-Noble-Val.  A 3-4 hour adventure under the magnificent cliffs of the Roc d’ Anglars. A trip through rapids and over dams is not difficult and children can also join in. Take food and drinks for a stopover on the banks of the river and jump from a 20 ft cliff into the water.  For the really adventurous, try wild water rafting in the Gorges du Tarn north-east of Millau. The gorges and surrounding plateau’s provide a breathtaking scenery. With outdoor pursuit centres and an abundance of professional instructors, catering for the novices through the experienced paddles. Kayaks can be hired in Najac, Laguepie and St.Antonin as well as other locations.
